The SCARA (Strengthening capacities for agricultural education, research and adoption in Kenya) Project wishes to announce and call upon students of Egerton University to submit for research concept notes under the themes listed below. Research work can cover topics from natural as well as social science. There are separate entries for female and male students.

Research Competition 2017 – APPLICATION-FORM

All applications must be submitted by 31st October 2017.

The competitions provide entries for female researcher and students.

If the concept note is accepted, one will be invited to prepare a full proposal. The acceptance of the concept note will guarantee that the student will be able to participate in an online mentoring and training program facilitated by BOKU University and will receive field attachment support for data collection. In detail the selected candidate will gain access and receive support for:

  • Opportunity to have guest access to BOKU/SCOPUS for literature research

  • Participate in an innovative training on scientific writing and mentoring system

  • Support for field work

  • Opportunity to publish the research work in an open access journal

  • Present the paper at an international Symposium

Involvement of young female scientists and students in research activities and research competition, which provide the opportunity to female scientist and students to put gender topics in the focus of their work and produce research promoting the voice of women in science, socio-economic and policy matters to wider national and international audience.

The research, school idea competition  and the hackathon will give researcher and students the opportunity to come up with innovative ideas and present themselves to a wider audience feeding their findings into the portfolio of solutions for ICT4Ag and suitable adoption pathways.
